Sport England / ECB Club Improvement Projects
Sport England Building and equipment improvement project 2012
An announcement from our Chairman, Rob Miller in January 2012.
The Club are delighted to announce that they have been awarded a Sports England grant under the Places People Play / Inspired facilities programme for the most significant improvements to the club house and ground in 20 years.
A detailed case for need for the improvements was made in a 70 page submission entitled "Securing The Future" in a round of bidding open to all Local authorities and Sports clubs in the UK. Support for the application was received from The Parish Council, Ferring C of E Primary School and Sussex Cricket Board.
The award covers the cost of a New Mower for the square, provision of an outdoor batting practice strip and a mobile net surround, meaning that for the first time for many years members can enjoy outdoor net practice at the ground.
After a tender and selection process West Sussex contractors Hadley and Hall were appointed and work commenced on the 30th January this year.
Work completed on Friday 9th March, the club is looking forward to offering better changing facilities, outdoor cricket nets and coaching to existing and new members of all ages.
Sport England cheque handed over in the presence of Sir Peter Bottomley MP, 4th May 2012 upon project completion.
